COUNTRY GARDEN AND CASH PRIZES WILL MAKE IT A CLASSIC DAY
If the thought of dressing up, sampling delicious food and sipping something ice cold appeals to you then The Country Garden on Classic Day is the perfect place to race from at Turffontein Racecourse on 1 April.
The excitement of the action on the track, the highlight on the day being the SA Classic (Gr 1), will be tempered with the sounds of the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra in the Country Garden area as the afternoon unfolds.
The SA Classic, run over 1800m, is the second leg of the Triple Crown and the Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic – also run on the day – forms the second part of the Triple Tiara and sees Smiling Blue Eyes attempt to follow on from her success in the Gauteng Guineas (Gr 2) earlier this month.
For the food lovers, popular Johannesburg restauranteur and award-winning chef Thomas Hughes will be on hand to satisfy hungers. Hughes is part of the team behind popular Johannesburg eatery The Griffin in Illovo and The Office in Greenside.
Hughes has added his personal touch to the menu and his food promises to go down a treat on raceday.
Tickets to The Country Garden are R50 and include general access to the precinct as well as a voucher upon entry while under-18s pay just R20 and there will be enough outdoor entertainment to keep them busy throughout the day.
There will also be a buffet offering inside the building with hospitality packages starting at R295 per person. Tables can be booked by calling 011 681 1796.
General access tickets for the day are R30 and also include a voucher.
There will also be up to R50 000 worth of cash prizes on offer for those who arrive on the racecourse including a grand prize giveaway of R20 000. There will also be cash up for grabs in a money shower as well as four R5000 vouchers. Entry forms for the various draws will be available at the gate on the day
The day will also see the second instalment of the Racing. It’s A Rush Member’s Lounge as part of a continued drive to make the sport of horseracing appeal to a new audience. This venue is ideal for millennials looking to show off their latest looks and network while taking in the action during an epic raceday experience. Tickets to this area are extremely limited.
