Press Room

On Saturday the 4th of March, I headed to the Turffontein Racecourse in Johannesburg to attend the opening of the Member’s Lounge as a guest of ‘Racing It’s A Rush’ to sip champagne, indulge in delicious food, meet new people and learn about the world of horseracing.

It was the first proper horseracing event I’ve attended and my first thought was, “what am I going to wear?” It is recommended to dress in a smart casual manner, and for gentlemen to wear a jacket. So naturally my thoughts were that I should either wear a gorgeous dress or even a fun playsuit. I decided on a flowy black dress with a pair of strappy black heels and edged it up with a black velvet choker. I also felt black is such a classic and as it was my first time attending, I wanted to first scope out how everyone dressed. I love that everyone puts in that little bit extra attention to detail for their outfits. A pretty dress, a fab pair of heels and you’re ready! I’m trying to plan what my next outfit will be for the next event.

Such magnificent animals, these horses are given so much love and attention. Their strength and agility amazes me, and it truly is a rush to see them in their element speeding down the race course.

On Saturday I’ll be attending the races again, it’s Classic Day this time around and can’t wait to learn even more. Last time I really enjoyed the betting process and hopefully Lady Luck will be on my side again this weekend. Head to my blog to check my social media so you can follow along with me,
